Nice 25.6.
2015
We are approaching the final destination of this 2 months
long transportation of Hoppet to the start of the Meeting the Odyssey project
in the Mediterranean. I am so happy to have participated in this, for me,
“off”-sailing. Last year we did a fantastic tour, but I was always working and
not really being able to relax. This time I truly enjoy each second of the
trip.
We are in Nice, since two days. Nice is nice, or how to put
it. But also full of luxury yachts, very rich people, posh places. Hoppet
really is different from all the other boats in the harbor. On June 23rd
we celebrated the Estonian Midsummer Eve with a parade, a fire=barbecue and a
lot of beer and wine. We had planned to do it on one of the beaches, but the
wind was too hard and we decided to stay by Hoppet. All went well until a
policeman or port guard came to check. He quickly realized we were quite
peaceful and even had the fire extinction equipment at hand. And he could not
resist the open smile of Udu and so he let us be.
The sail from Barcelona to Nice was just beyond description.
The first day we sailed with full sails, even if the wind was a bit weak. The
next day by engine cause of so little wind. In the evening the wind speed
increased but it was too late to put up the sails. Anyway I will never forget
that sunrise and the dolphins playing with Hoppet for an hour! It was magic and
perfect and I wanted it to last.
Tomorrow we will arrive in Camogli. At 4 pm, upon wishes
from the local hosts. For me it will be a great moment. Finally the Odyssey can
start!
